TARGET PEENEMUNDE

TARGET PEENEMUNDE

$200.00Price

The second in Robert Taylor’s GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY SERIES, commemorates the 50th Anniversary of the Avro Lancaster, mainstay of Bomber Command, and probably the most versatile and successful bombing aircraft of all time. The Lancaster took part in every major night attack on Germany during the Second World War.

Lancasters of 83 Squadron Pathfinder Force as they climb out over the East Coast of England on route for Peenemunde on the warm summer evening of 17th August 1943.  Brilliantly navigated in darkness right over the target the master bombers aircraft seen in the forefront of Robert Taylor's painting, made 9 dangerous passes over the target, directing operations.  During the next 55 minutes Hilter's secret weapon establishment was virtually destroyed by the bomber crews that followed his directions.
